These are also from a new series of paintings started in 2015. I have really pushed the color limits on this series of work and also started to play with dimension within the stripes. Walking the fine line between two and three dimensions is fun for me. It becomes the subject matter. These paintings are really a tour de force of my surfaces and mixed media skills developed over the years. I also wanted to turn the framing format around and produce a welded steel frame but using the exact opposite angle as the Before Genesis series. These pieces do not float off of the wall. They anchor down like a limpet on the wall with a strength and fortitude which is unusual in two dimensional work. Difficult to photograph but I think we "got it" in these pics.
The world is changing. I am posting often now and need to show the work as it is in the studio. This website will be evolving and very organic in its nature. Hopefully you will always see changes when you come to the site. Presenting perfect "studio" shots of each piece really slows me down and also creates a static website.
I have used two format sizes so far but any format can be commissioned. I also want to comment on the smaller 3' X 4' paintings. These were extremely difficult as far as color choices. I must admit I truly made myself use this palette. It has been so challenging for me to create using an "unappealing" palette ! I am so conditioned to find the most beautiful and magnetic color combinations. But now, after living with them in the studio they have become two color studies which I find very sophisticated and welcomed. What else can I ask for?
