A new series of paintings on panel started in 2015. Very experimental imagery and use of materials. Here I am working directly with iron powder to create the rust, and bronze powders to create the depth of tones. Working in groups of 2 and 3 you can see how they work alone or as companion pieces. I also discovered the importance of "glazes" when I want to save but obscure an image. These surfaces are deep and rich and contain many of the same elements that formal landscape painters use. Foreground, middle ground and a background. I guess you could look at these as abstract landscapes especially with the appearance of a horizon line.
